Data retention
Decide how long Tracera keeps your event data. Older data is dropped at the partition level — cleanly, on schedule.
Retention defaults
Default retention is 12 months. Longer retention is available on Business and Agency plans; contact hello@tracera.eu for a specific value.
ClickHouse drops expired data at the partition level — cleanly, on schedule, with zero customer action.
Why retention matters
For GDPR Article 5(1)(e) (storage limitation), keeping personal data longer than necessary is a violation. Even though Tracera's events don't contain PII (the visitor hash is unrecoverable after 24 hours), shorter retention is good hygiene and reduces blast radius if anything ever goes wrong.
Right-to-erasure (Art. 17)
A visitor's data is, by construction, unrecoverable after 24 hours: the daily salt is rotated and destroyed. If someone identifies an event as theirs (e.g. via a custom event property), contact legal@tracera.eu with the event details. The event is overwritten in the next ClickHouse merge cycle.
